Big Lynth Update (#6)
Production for The Lynth is well underway with the start of the new semester. We have started to reach a point with our storyboard and design progress to finally begin making assets. In preparation for building character models, the other character artists and I have spent the last couple weeks creating full reference sheets of major characters while our story members continue to tweak and revamp our storyboard animatic. We’ve made some decent changes that I’m confident will benefit our story and runtime greatly.
Over the last two weeks I was in charge of handling design references for the last two evolutions of our monster transformation, as well as my far less glamorous time keeping and organizational duties. I was also able to help out another teammate in testing out the mocap system with some arm stilts she made to help with mocap acting the Lynth. The test seemed to go fairly well so we shall see how helpful it ends up being for us in the coming weeks. Our hope is that it will help us streamline some work so that we have more time to really work out the finesse and fine details later on.
My overall accomplishments of the last few weeks include:
Setting up a Trello schedule for the coming months and getting everyone’s tasks for the week and other important deadlines set up
Updating the team Onedrive so members can upload and get access to needed files from any device
Setting reminders and updates on deadlines to try and keep everyone on track
Completed 3-angle reference sheets for both form 3 and form 4 of the Lynth
Completed two extra references for the skull of form 4, which has the oddest shape
Helped with a mocap stilt test
Over the coming weeks I hope to be able to work with the other character artists to get color schemes for the characters underway, as well as getting started on the modeling of Lynth form 4. A lot of the form 4 model will be reliant on receiving parts from previous forms that are being worked on so I won’t be able to get any major sculpting done until then but there are at least some parts I can get started on.
Overall, we’re off to a great start and I can’t wait to see how it progresses from here.
