Lynth Update #15

We finally managed to get three of our rough passes into Unreal Engine for a little bit of lighting and set dressing. I wish it could be more but apparently hitting the export button more than once or twice per week is too much to ask of some people so I guess that’s what we get. It’s at least nice to see a little bit of color in there.

I took a little bit of a break and haven’t been feeling the best recently, but did manage to add rough animation onto a couple shots that didn’t have them yet as well as get most of the way through fixing the rough animation on a shot that needed it. One of the shots was a little tricky and tedious to animate since it was a character tumbling sideways down a hill which as it turns out…is kinda complicated but it’s getting there. It’s at least looking better than the motionless bouncing that it had previously. At this point I am now moving forward to start polishing some of our harder, more intense shots that will require the most fire so we can get those files moving along to having vfx applied while the other animators work towards finishing up rough animation on shots that haven’t received it yet. I will also be helping out the sound team to clarify what is happening in the animatic currently since it’s not always the most clear without animation or the context of what the shot will be once it’s finished. I’m excited to see what else they come up with.

I’m becoming increasingly more anxious about our ability to finish as our deadline grows ever closer. If everyone was working pedal to the metal I wouldn’t be so worried, but we still have half the team barely working and the rest who are working their asses off are physically incapable of picking up any more slack. It’s not a matter of not wanting to, it’s a matter of days only having 24 hours in them. No matter how much we try to get the others to pick up the pace, they just don’t. We managed to pick up one more set of hands of extra manpower for stuff like lighting but idk how much that’ll help us in the end.

hmm that’s not supposed to happen
